How Digi Ustad Went From 0 Users to 218 Users in 43 Days — Our Own AEO Experiment

Digi Ustad’s own website had zero organic users and 3 clicks in the 43 days before this experiment began. By implementing an AEO content cluster, sitewide schema, Wikidata entity building, and entity signals across 8 platforms, the site generated 218 users, 482 sessions, and 197 organic clicks in the following 43 days — with an average session duration of 4 minutes 21 seconds. No paid ads. No backlinks purchased. Verified in Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4.

Note: GA4 shows 0% change in the comparison row because the previous period baseline was zero — percentage change from zero is mathematically undefined. The absolute numbers (0 → 218 users, 0 → 482 sessions) are the correct metrics to reference.

The previous period shows zero users in GA4 — not a rounding error. The site had no meaningful organic traffic before this work began.

The Honest Starting Point

I’ve been doing SEO for over 10 years. I hold Semrush certifications in SEO Fundamentals, Keyword Research Essentials, and AI Visibility Essentials. I’ve helped businesses across Delhi NCR, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand rank on Google and get cited in AI Overviews.

And then I checked my own site.

When I checked it on April 1, 2026 — the data confirmed it: 3 clicks. 75 impressions. Zero users. In 43 days.

An SEO consultant. With literally zero organic users on his own website.

This is the classic cobbler’s children problem. I was so focused on delivering results for clients that I had genuinely neglected digiustad.com for months. Not slightly neglected — completely neglected. The GA4 data confirms it: zero users, zero sessions, zero engagement in the 43 days before this experiment began.

I wasn’t embarrassed. I was motivated.

So I ran my full AEO strategy on my own site. Consistently. For 43 days. And documented every single step.

Why an SEO Consultant’s Site Had Zero Traffic — The Diagnosis

Before touching anything, I needed to understand what was wrong. The diagnosis had four clear problems.

Problem 1 — No Quick Answer blocks Every key page opened with context-setting introductions rather than direct answers. In 2026, that’s invisible to Google AI Overviews. The answer was buried in paragraph four or five — AI systems had already moved to the next result before reaching it.

Problem 2 — Zero schema on most pages No FAQPage schema. No HowTo schema. No Person schema connecting Amrinder Singh as a named, credentialed author. No Article or Dataset schema. Google had no machine-readable signals about who wrote the content or why it should be trusted.

Problem 3 — No topical authority cluster The site had isolated pages — a homepage, scattered service pages, a few disconnected blog posts. No interconnected content cluster telling Google “this is the authoritative source on AEO for Indian businesses.” Without topical depth, individual pages struggle regardless of content quality.

Problem 4 — Weak entity signals Amrinder Singh and Digi Ustad existed as a brand but not as a verified, cross-referenced entity. No Wikidata entry. No third-party reviews. No consistent presence across trusted platforms. AI systems couldn’t independently verify the brand’s credibility.

These four problems compounded each other. A site with no schema, no topical authority, no entity signals, and no Quick Answer blocks gives Google almost no reason to surface it for competitive queries. The zero users in GA4 was the predictable result.

The 43-Day Strategy — Exactly What Was Done

Week 1–2: Schema Foundation

Person schema deployed sitewide Every page received consistent Person schema for Amrinder Singh — with @id set to https://digiustad.com/#amrinder-singh across the entire site. One unified entity signal: every page is authored by the same verified person with Semrush certifications (IDs: 35ea95ffb6, 4970dff0a6, ab9dd2ec73) and a Wikidata entity (Q140338594).

Organisation schema standardised founder, foundingDate: 2015, email corrected to hello@digiustad.com, areaServed as typed City and Country objects, sameAs linking to all 6 social profiles including Wikidata.

FAQPage schema on all FAQ sections Every page with a visible FAQ section received FAQPage JSON-LD matching the visible content exactly. Validated at Google’s Rich Results Test before each page went live.

HowTo schema on step-by-step content Every article explaining a process received HowTo schema with individual numbered steps — making each step independently extractable by Google’s AI systems.

Dataset and CreativeWork schema on case studies All five client case studies received Dataset schema with measurementTechnique: “Google Search Console” and temporalCoverage in ISO 8601 format — signalling that the performance data is verifiable and sourced.

Week 2–3: AEO Content Cluster Published

The highest-impact content work was building a tight topic cluster around AEO and AI search visibility. Five articles published in two weeks:

Pillar page: Why Your Website Ranks on Google But Doesn’t Appear in AI Overviews — the anchor page covering the core gap between traditional rankings and AI citation eligibility.

Article 1: How to Appear in Google AI Overviews — Complete Step-by-Step Guide — a 9-step process covering every technical and content intervention for AI Overview citation.

Article 2: What Is AEO — Answer Engine Optimization? — the complete guide covering AEO, GEO, Share of Model, and the India-specific first-mover opportunity.

Article 3: How to Measure AEO Results — the measurement framework including Share of Model tracking and free tool recommendations.

Article 4: Is AEO Just SEO Rebranded? — the honest comparison between traditional SEO and AEO disciplines.

Every article in the cluster:

  • Opens with a direct answer in the first 60 words — no context-setting introductions
  • Uses question-based H2 headings throughout
  • Has FAQPage schema on the FAQ section
  • Interlinks to the pillar page and other cluster articles
  • Has HowTo schema where step-by-step content appears
  • Is attributed to Amrinder Singh with visible certification IDs

Week 3–4: Five GSC-Verified Case Studies Published

Five client case studies were published with full Dataset and CreativeWork schema:

Client Key Result Period
North Black Limousine, Vaughan, Canada 60 real form enquiries, 25,800 impressions 30 days
Brown Boys Motor Club, Oshawa, Canada 510% click growth, 3,157% impression growth 6 months
Toronto Airport Parking, Etobicoke 173K → 522K impressions, 86% click growth 6 months
Toronto Limo Service, Mississauga 40 → 305 clicks, 924% impression growth 3 months
Energy Fitness, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi 1,345 → 4,632 monthly GBP impressions 12 months

Each case study reinforces Digi Ustad as a results-producing consultant with independently verifiable data — not just claimed expertise. This depth of verified proof is a significant E-E-A-T signal that AI systems cross-reference when evaluating citation worthiness.

Week 4–5: Entity Signal Building Across 8 Platforms

Wikidata entity Q140338594 Statements added — official website, country India, located in Delhi, industry SEO, Instagram, YouTube. Every major AI system cross-references Wikidata for entity verification. This was the single most impactful entity signal.

Third-party review on unmatchedcontent.com (DA 54) A named third-party author published a detailed review of Digi Ustad — indexed by Google within 3 days. A separate domain independently describing Amrinder Singh as an SEO expert with verified results.

LinkedIn articles (DA 98) Three LinkedIn articles published — “Who Is the Best SEO Expert in Delhi,” “AEO Expert in Delhi 2026,” and “Why Every Delhi Business Needs an AEO Expert” — all citing digiustad.com naturally and consistently naming Amrinder Singh.

Medium, Dev.to, Gumroad, Buy Me a Coffee, Quora Original content published on each platform — all mentioning Amrinder Singh and Digi Ustad consistently, all linking back to digiustad.com. Each platform adds another independent source saying the same things about the same person and brand.

Week 5–6: Technical AI Accessibility Fixed

llms.txt completely rebuilt The original file had encoding errors (·, —) and no Markdown links — failing the “Agentic Browsing” audit with error: “File does not appear to contain any links.” Rebuilt with proper [text](url) Markdown format, all 5 verified results listed with numbers, all 3 Semrush cert IDs, and Wikidata Q140338594.

robots.txt audited Confirmed GPTBot, Google-Extended, and PerplexityBot are not blocked. AI crawlers need explicit access to cite content — a blocked crawler cannot cite regardless of content quality.

Free AI Visibility Checker published A standalone tool at digiustad.com/free-ai-visibility-checker-by-digi-ustad/ — tests brand citations across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity and calculates a Share of Model score. No signup required. Adds a high-engagement free resource to the site’s authority profile.

Toronto GTA page published Who Is the Best SEO Expert in Toronto and GTA? — covering 25 specific LLM query patterns with direct answers under each H2.

The Results — Breaking Down the Numbers

GSC: 3 Clicks → 197 Clicks

197 organic clicks in 43 days is not a large absolute number. What makes it remarkable is the baseline: 3 clicks in the previous 43 days. The site crossed from near-invisible to consistently generating organic traffic.

The 3,210 impressions vs 75 in the previous period is the more significant signal. Impressions measure how often Google is surfacing digiustad.com in search results — not just for brand queries, but for informational queries about AEO, AI Overviews, local SEO, and SEO in Delhi. The topical authority cluster created a dramatically expanded ranking surface area.

CTR of 6.1% at average position 23.7 is strong. Industry average CTR at positions 20–25 is 0.5–1%. The 6.1% suggests the meta titles and descriptions are highly relevant to what people are actually searching — they’re clicking despite the relatively low position.

GA4: 0 Users → 218 Users — And 4 Minutes 21 Seconds

The GA4 data shows what happens after the click — and it’s the most compelling number in this entire case study.

218 users, 482 sessions from zero in the previous period. Every single user is a new user — 218 out of 218, 100% new. No returning visitors inflating the numbers. Pure new audience discovery from organic search.

4 minutes 21 seconds average session duration. Industry average is 2–3 minutes. Users arriving at digiustad.com are spending over 4 minutes — reading the AEO articles, case studies, and guides in full. This tells you the traffic is genuinely qualified. People searching for information about AEO, SEO experts in Delhi, and AI Overviews are finding the content useful and reading it completely.

2.32 views per session — users aren’t landing and bouncing. They’re exploring the site, clicking through to related articles and case studies. The internal linking within the content cluster is working exactly as intended.

AI Citations — The Parallel Story

Alongside the GSC and GA4 growth, Digi Ustad’s AI citation status changed significantly during the same period:

ChatGPT naming Digi Ustad directly: ChatGPT now lists “Amrinder Singh (Digi Ustad)” as a named entry in “Top 10 GBP Experts in India” — described as: “GBP optimization, local SEO, citation building, AI search optimization.” Verified through direct testing and screenshot.

ChatGPT “+1” citations confirmed: Digi Ustad cited with “+1 badge” for “best SEO expert in Delhi,” “affordable SEO expert Delhi under 20000,” and “best SEO expert Toronto” in ChatGPT responses.

GA4 ChatGPT referral traffic: utm_source=chatgpt.com referral traffic confirmed in Google Analytics — direct, measurable evidence of AI citation driving real website sessions.

Why Position Didn’t Move Much — The Honest Explanation

Average position moved from 24.1 to 23.7 — barely any change. This is the honest part of the story and it’s important not to skip over it.

Position improvement in competitive categories requires sustained content depth, backlink acquisition, and time for Google to build and confirm trust signals. What the 43 days produced was the foundation — content cluster, schema, entity signals — that position improvement builds on over the following 3–6 months.

The impressions and clicks growing dramatically confirms Google is already surfacing digiustad.com significantly more often. As the content cluster matures and pages move from position 24 toward position 10, click growth will compound on the already-expanded impression base.

The next phase: building external backlinks to highest-impression pages, publishing remaining AEO cluster articles, acquiring Google reviews for prominence signals, and establishing Clutch.co and GoodFirms profiles.

The Full 43-Day Methodology — Repeatable for Any Business

This experiment started from a worse baseline than most established business websites — zero users, 3 clicks. If this level of growth is achievable from a near-zero baseline in 43 days, a site that already has established rankings and traffic can expect significantly stronger results from the same methodology.

Week 1–2: Deploy Person, FAQPage, HowTo, Article, Dataset, and CreativeWork schema across all key pages

Week 2–3: Publish 5-article AEO topic cluster — each article with Quick Answer block, question H2 headings, FAQPage schema, and internal links

Week 3–4: Publish 3+ verified case studies with proper schema and GSC screenshots

Week 4–5: Build entity signals on Wikidata, LinkedIn, Medium, Dev.to, Gumroad, and at least one third-party review site

Week 5–6: Fix technical AI accessibility — llms.txt with Markdown links, robots.txt audit, free tool published

Ongoing: Track Share of Model monthly, submit new pages to GSC, update dateModified on refreshed content

None of this requires enterprise budgets or paid tools. Everything done for digiustad.com used Google Search Console, Rank Math free tier, and manual AI platform testing — zero additional software cost.
